Standards & Stewardship
SEMLAC will work to promote and support the achievement of professional service and other standards throughout the region. It will also promote excellence in the preservation, management and use of the region’s cultural and natural resources.
We will be developing our approach to a shared framework of standards both within and across museums, libraries and archives. This will take account of the established situation in each, but will also look at issues such as the Disability Discrimination Act, which are relevant across all three.
W we will be developing training, advice and funding support to improve provision and skills in the area of collections development and stewardship. We will be seeking support to assess regional documentation backlogs and regional conservation needs and capacity. These studies will help us to develop regional strategies to address these issues.
